Successfully Held Scientific Conference
“Vision of the Long-Term Development of Electrical Engineering Sciences in the Republic of Serbia in the First Half of the 21st Century”

 A one-day scientific conference titled “Vision of the Long-Term Development of Electrical Engineering Sciences in the Republic of Serbia in the First Half of the 21st Century” was held on April 22, 2026, in Belgrade, at the Engineers’ Hall “Nikola Tesla,” with the participation of over 100 attendees from Serbia and abroad. The conference was organized by the Engineering Academy of Serbia (IAS) in cooperation with the Union of Engineers and Technicians of Serbia (SITS). The conference was sponsored by the Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation of the Republic of Serbia, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia. Financial support was provided by Vlatacom Institute of High Technologies, Belgrade; Institute “Mihajlo Pupin” a.d. Belgrade; IMP Telecommunications a.d. Belgrade; and Montop Pro LLC, Novi Sad.

The conference was the result of three years of activities by the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering (ET&RI) of IAS. A total of 13 topics were covered, and 10 members of the department contributed to the preparation of papers, in line with their primary fields of expertise.

The conference was held in honor of the 170th anniversary of the birth of Nikola Tesla, and on the day when, in 1882, he discovered the rotating magnetic field in Budapest. At the same time, April 22 has been marked as International Mother Earth Day since 2009. Accordingly, during the ceremonial part of the conference, the attendees were addressed by:

As part of this segment, a Resolution on establishing July 10 as International Nikola Tesla Day was proclaimed, having been adopted at the IAS Council session on March 20, 2026. Additionally, an exhibition was held in the lobby of the Engineers’ Hall “Nikola Tesla,” featuring Nikola Tesla posters generated by artificial intelligence by author Radomir Perin, oil portraits by academic painter Jelena Bibić, Tesla-branded products from family manufactures across Serbia, trophies won by students of the Mathematical Gymnasium in Belgrade at international competitions, and more.

The conference moderator was Dr. Radoslav Raković, Secretary of the ET&RI Department, Vice President of IAS, and Director of the IAS Institute, who also served as President of the Organizing Committee and Editor-in-Chief of the invited papers proceedings.

A total of 13 invited papers were presented at the conference, authored by 10 members of the ET&RI Department. The concept of the papers was to examine the current state in the respective fields, as well as the main development trends globally and in the Republic of Serbia, based on literature, standards, legislation, national strategies, and the authors’ own research results.

Following the conclusion of the conference, a set of conclusions was adopted and will be submitted to the relevant institutions.
